These Terms & Conditions apply to all rentals made through Auto Rent Teqja, whether booked online, by direct communication, or through a written custom offer.
1. Parties and Acceptance
These Terms & Conditions govern the rental of vehicles by Auto Rent Teqja to the Client identified in the Rental Agreement and/or Booking Confirmation.
By completing an online reservation, accepting these Terms electronically, paying any booking amount, and/or signing the Rental Agreement, the Client confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
2. Driver Eligibility and Authorized Drivers
The vehicle may be driven only by the Client and by any additional driver expressly approved by Auto Rent Teqja and recorded in the Rental Agreement or Booking Confirmation.
- Where an Additional Driver option is selected during booking, the additional driver must meet Auto Rent Teqja’s age and driving licence requirements. A clear copy or photo of the additional driver’s valid driving licence must be sent to Auto Rent Teqja after the reservation has been confirmed and before vehicle handover. Auto Rent Teqja reserves the right to refuse any additional driver who does not meet the applicable requirements or whose documents are not provided in time.
All drivers must hold:
- a valid driving licence;
- a valid passport or identification document;
- any additional legally required documents.
Unless otherwise expressly agreed in writing by Auto Rent Teqja, the standard eligibility requirement is:
- minimum age: 21 years;
- minimum driving experience: 2 continuous years.
If the Client and/or any driver does not meet one or both of the above criteria, Auto Rent Teqja may, at its sole discretion:
- refuse the rental; or
- allow the rental subject to an additional security deposit, additional charges, limited protection, or other special rental conditions.
3. Booking, Confirmation, and Vehicle Availability
All online reservations are subject to vehicle availability and final confirmation by Auto Rent Teqja.
A reservation request does not guarantee a specific vehicle until confirmed.
Auto Rent Teqja reserves the right, where necessary, to provide a similar vehicle category or another reasonable alternative, subject to availability.
4. Rental Period
The rental period begins and ends on the dates, times, and locations stated in the Booking Confirmation and/or Rental Agreement.
The Client must return the vehicle at the agreed date, time, and location.
Late return may result in additional hourly or daily rental charges, as well as any operational losses or related costs caused by the delay.
5. Payment
The rental price must be paid in advance unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Any additional amount arising during or after the rental is payable immediately upon request, including but not limited to:
- excess mileage;
- late return;
- damages;
- missing items;
- extraordinary cleaning;
- smoking-related cleaning or restoration;
- fines, tolls, administrative fees, and penalties;
- cross-border charges;
- special requests or additional services.
5A. Booking Prepayment, Cancellation, and No-Show
A reservation is considered confirmed only after Auto Rent Teqja has received the required booking prepayment or full payment, unless otherwise expressly confirmed in writing.
Unless otherwise stated during booking or in a written custom offer, a minimum prepayment of 20% of the rental amount is required to confirm the reservation. The remaining balance shall be paid according to the payment instructions communicated by Auto Rent Teqja.
If a Client cancels a confirmed reservation, the booking prepayment is non-refundable unless Auto Rent Teqja expressly agrees otherwise in writing.
If the Client does not appear at the agreed pick-up date, time, and location, fails to provide the required documents, or cannot complete the rental due to failure to meet the applicable rental conditions, the reservation may be treated as a no-show and any booking prepayment may be retained.
Auto Rent Teqja reserves the right to apply different cancellation or refund terms where these have been expressly stated during booking, in a written custom offer, or in the Booking Confirmation.
6. Security Deposit
A security deposit may be required before vehicle handover.
The deposit amount, if applicable, shall depend on factors including:
- vehicle category;
- rental duration;
- selected package;
- driver age and experience;
- driver risk profile;
- destination and intended use.
Where a package is displayed as “No Deposit Required”, this applies only under normal eligibility and risk conditions.
Auto Rent Teqja reserves the right to require a deposit or special conditions in higher-risk cases, including but not limited to:
- drivers under the standard eligibility threshold;
- drivers with limited driving experience;
- high-risk vehicle categories;
- cross-border use;
- special itinerary or excessive risk exposure.
The security deposit may be used to cover any amount owed by the Client, including damages, excess mileage, fines, tolls, late return, missing items, cleaning, administrative costs, and contractual penalties.
Any remaining balance shall be refunded after final inspection and once all pending liabilities, if any, have been verified.
7. Vehicle Condition at Handover and Return
The vehicle is delivered in roadworthy condition together with its keys, documents, and listed accessories.
The Client must inspect the vehicle at handover and report any visible issue immediately.
The vehicle must be returned in the same condition in which it was received, except for normal wear and tear resulting from proper use.
The Client remains responsible for the vehicle until it has been physically returned, inspected, and accepted by Auto Rent Teqja.
8. Fuel, Cleanliness, Smoking, and Vehicle Care
The Client must use the correct fuel type.
The vehicle must be returned in reasonably clean condition.
If the vehicle is returned excessively dirty and requires extraordinary cleaning, an additional cleaning fee may apply.
Smoking inside the vehicle is strictly prohibited.
If the vehicle is returned with evidence of smoking, ash, burns, strong odor, or residue, Auto Rent Teqja may charge cleaning and restoration costs.
9. Usage Packages and Mileage Policy
The usage package selected during booking regulates the rental price and the included mileage allowance for the rental period.
Auto Rent Teqja may offer different usage packages, including but not limited to:
- Basic Package;
- Standard Package;
- Unlimited Mileage Package;
- or any other mileage-based package expressly displayed during booking or confirmed in writing.
Unless expressly stated otherwise in the Booking Confirmation, Rental Agreement, or written custom offer:
- each usage package determines only the included mileage allowance and the related rental price;
- the selected usage package does not by itself include, create, or modify any insurance coverage, contractual protection option, liability limitation, or damage waiver;
- the selected usage package does not replace or alter the Client’s responsibilities under these Terms & Conditions and the Rental Agreement.
The included mileage allowance is the mileage expressly shown in the selected booking package, Booking Confirmation, Rental Agreement, or written offer issued by Auto Rent Teqja.
If the selected package includes a fixed mileage allowance, that mileage limit applies to the entire rental period, unless otherwise stated in writing.
If the included mileage allowance is exceeded, every additional kilometre shall be charged at a rate of €1.00 per kilometre.
The excess mileage amount shall be calculated based on the difference between the vehicle’s odometer reading at pick-up and the odometer reading at return, compared against the total kilometres included in the selected usage package.
Unlimited mileage applies only where it has been expressly displayed and selected during booking or expressly confirmed in writing by Auto Rent Teqja in the Booking Confirmation, Rental Agreement, or written custom offer.
Unlimited mileage shall never be assumed unless clearly stated.
Where a usage package is displayed as “Refundable Deposit Required”, this means that a security deposit is required before vehicle handover in accordance with Clause 6. The security deposit is a guarantee for amounts that may become due and shall not be interpreted as a maximum liability limit.
10. Mandatory Third-Party Liability Insurance and Optional Protection Options
All rentals include the mandatory basic third-party liability insurance required for road use, subject to the applicable insurance policy terms, exclusions, limitations, deductibles, and legal conditions.
This mandatory third-party liability insurance does not cover damage to the rental vehicle itself, except where coverage may arise under a separate applicable policy or legal mechanism.
Auto Rent Teqja may offer separate optional contractual protection options during booking or by written confirmation, including:
- Extra Protection as an optional add-on;
- Full Protection, where expressly displayed, selected, and confirmed as part of a booking package or written offer;
- any other protection arrangement expressly confirmed in writing by Auto Rent Teqja.
Optional protection options are separate from usage packages and apply only when they have been expressly selected, paid where applicable, and confirmed in the Booking Confirmation, Rental Agreement, or written offer.
No optional protection option shall be interpreted as unconditional, unlimited, or all-risk insurance coverage for every type of damage, loss, cost, or event.
11. Extra Protection Add-On
Where Extra Protection is expressly selected during booking, paid where applicable, and confirmed by Auto Rent Teqja, it reduces the Client’s financial responsibility for covered accidental exterior damage to the rental vehicle during the rental period.
Unless otherwise expressly stated in the Booking Confirmation, Rental Agreement, or written custom offer, Extra Protection limits the Client’s liability to a maximum of €600 per incident for covered accidental exterior damage.
Extra Protection applies only where all of the following conditions are met:
- the damage occurred during authorized and proper use of the vehicle;
- the Client immediately notified Auto Rent Teqja after the incident or damage became known;
- the Client followed all required accident, damage, police, insurance, and reporting procedures;
- all required documents, reports, statements, photos, evidence, and cooperation requested by Auto Rent Teqja were provided;
- no exclusion, breach, unauthorized use, or prohibited conduct applies.
Extra Protection is independent from the selected usage package. It may be selected together with an eligible mileage package, but it does not modify the mileage allowance of that package.
Extra Protection does not automatically remove, waive, or reduce any security deposit requirement unless this is expressly stated in the Booking Confirmation, Rental Agreement, or written custom offer.
Extra Protection does not apply, and the Client remains fully responsible, in cases including but not limited to:
- unauthorized driver use;
- false, incomplete, or misleading declarations;
- prohibited use of the vehicle;
- driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any impairing substance;
- negligent, reckless, abusive, or grossly improper use of the vehicle;
- off-road use, racing, competitions, testing, towing, or pushing, unless expressly authorized;
- use outside the approved territory without prior written authorization;
- failure to stop the vehicle after warning lights, overheating, low oil, technical faults, or mechanical issues;
- failure to notify Auto Rent Teqja immediately after accident, theft, fire, vandalism, damage, or breakdown;
- failure to notify the police or competent authorities where required;
- failure to provide required documents, reports, statements, keys, photos, or other evidence;
- loss of keys, documents, accessories, or vehicle equipment;
- fuel mistakes or misfuelling;
- interior damage, upholstery damage, burns, smoke, odors, stains, or contamination;
- tyre, wheel, rim, glass, mirror, underbody, clutch, suspension, or roof damage, unless expressly included in writing;
- mechanical damage caused by misuse, negligence, or failure to follow warning signs;
- any breach of these Terms & Conditions, the Rental Agreement, or the Booking Confirmation.
For the avoidance of doubt, Extra Protection is a contractual protection option offered by Auto Rent Teqja and is not a separate insurance policy or full casco insurance.
12. Full Protection Clarification
Where Full Protection is expressly displayed, selected, and confirmed in the Booking Confirmation, Rental Agreement, or written custom offer, it is intended to reduce the Client’s financial responsibility for covered accidental exterior damage to the rented vehicle, subject to these Terms & Conditions, the applicable exclusions, and the required accident or damage procedure.
Unless otherwise expressly stated in the Booking Confirmation, Rental Agreement, or written custom offer, the Client remains liable for up to €300 per incident under Full Protection.
Full Protection does not mean full casco insurance and does not provide unconditional or unlimited coverage. It reduces the Client’s liability only for covered accidental exterior damage and only where all required conditions and procedures have been fully respected.
Where a booking package displayed as Full Protection also includes a specific mileage allowance, such as unlimited mileage, that mileage allowance applies only if expressly shown during booking or confirmed in writing.
Full Protection does not apply, and the Client remains fully liable, in cases including but not limited to:
- unauthorized driver use;
- false, incomplete, or misleading declarations;
- prohibited use of the vehicle;
- driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any impairing substance;
- negligence, abusive driving, reckless driving, or gross misuse;
- off-road use, racing, competitions, testing, towing, or pushing unless expressly authorized;
- use outside the permitted territory without prior written approval;
- failure to stop the vehicle after warning lights or mechanical issues;
- failure to notify Auto Rent Teqja immediately after accident, theft, fire, vandalism, damage, or breakdown;
- failure to notify the police or competent authorities where required;
- failure to provide the required documents, reports, statements, keys, or evidence;
- loss of keys, loss of documents, loss of accessories, fuel mistakes, or misfuelling;
- interior damage, upholstery damage, burns, odors, or contamination;
- tyre, wheel, rim, glass, mirror, underbody, clutch, suspension, or roof damage, unless expressly included in the selected package in writing;
- any breach of these Terms & Conditions, the Rental Agreement, or the Booking Confirmation.
For the avoidance of doubt, the existence of parking sensors, cameras, or driver-assistance systems does not by itself remove the Client’s duty of care and does not prevent Auto Rent Teqja from assessing negligence or misuse based on the circumstances of the case.
13. Prohibited Use
The vehicle shall not be used:
- for any unlawful purpose or criminal activity;
- for racing, competition, testing, driver training, towing, pushing, or off-road use unless expressly authorized;
- to transport dangerous, prohibited, flammable, or hazardous substances;
- by any unauthorized person;
- outside the approved territory without prior written authorization;
- in a negligent, abusive, improper, or reckless manner.
Any breach of this clause may result in immediate termination of the rental, cancellation of protection benefits, recovery of the vehicle, and full liability of the Client.
14. Client Responsibilities
The Client agrees:
- to protect and secure the vehicle at all times;
- to comply with traffic laws, parking regulations, toll rules, and road safety laws;
- to monitor warning lights, tyre condition, and the general operating condition of the vehicle;
- to stop using the vehicle immediately and contact Auto Rent Teqja if a warning light, technical issue, or damage occurs;
- not to repair, alter, open, dismantle, or tamper with the vehicle without prior authorization.
15. Accidents, Theft, Fire, Damage, and Breakdowns
In the event of accident, theft, fire, vandalism, damage, or mechanical breakdown, the Client must immediately notify Auto Rent Teqja.
Where required by law, insurance procedure, or the circumstances of the event, the Client must also notify the police or other competent authority.
The Client must not admit liability, settle claims, arrange repairs, or abandon the vehicle without prior authorization, unless immediate action is required by law or for safety reasons.
Failure to follow the required procedure may result in the loss of protection benefits and full liability of the Client.
16. Fines, Tolls, Penalties, and Administrative Charges
The Client is fully responsible for all fines, penalties, tolls, parking charges, towing fees, congestion charges, municipal penalties, and any similar costs arising during the rental period.
If such amounts are addressed to or processed by Auto Rent Teqja, the Client shall reimburse the full amount together with any administrative or handling fee.
17. Damage, Loss, Keys, Documents, and Accessories
The Client is responsible for any damage to the vehicle and for any physical or economic loss arising during the rental period, except where expressly covered by the selected protection package and not excluded by these Terms.
This includes, without limitation:
- body damage;
- interior damage;
- missing equipment or accessories;
- key loss or key damage;
- loss of documents;
- wheel or tyre damage;
- glass damage;
- misuse-related mechanical damage.
18. Cross-Border Use and Territorial Limits
The vehicle may not be taken outside Albania unless Auto Rent Teqja has given prior written approval.
Cross-border travel is permitted only where:
- the Client has selected the Unlimited Mileage Package, unless Auto Rent Teqja has expressly approved otherwise in writing;
- the applicable Cross-Border Travel option has been selected and paid, where required;
- all destination and transit countries have been declared in advance and approved by Auto Rent Teqja;
- all required documents, fees, territorial limits, insurance requirements, Green Card requirements, and country-specific conditions have been satisfied.
Unless otherwise expressly confirmed in writing, the standard Cross-Border Travel option covers authorization for travel to one approved foreign country only.
For itineraries involving more than one approved foreign country, the Client must also select the Additional Cross-Border Country option for each additional foreign country beyond the first one, unless otherwise expressly confirmed in writing by Auto Rent Teqja.
Unauthorized cross-border use, travel to undeclared or unapproved countries, or failure to comply with the applicable cross-border requirements constitutes a material breach of contract and may void any optional protection benefit.
Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, the Cross-Border Travel fee and any Additional Cross-Border Country fee do not include third-party costs such as Green Card insurance, border insurance, foreign road charges, tolls, or any country-specific external fees, which remain the Client’s responsibility where applicable.
19. Early Return and Non-Refundability
If the Client returns the vehicle before the agreed end of the rental period, unused rental time is generally non-refundable, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Booking amounts, deposits for reservation, or promotional prices may be subject to their own non-refundable conditions as communicated during booking.
20. Termination for Breach
Auto Rent Teqja may terminate the rental immediately, recover the vehicle, and cancel any protection benefits if the Client:
- breaches these Terms;
- provides false or misleading information;
- uses the vehicle in a prohibited or unauthorized manner;
- fails to pay any amount due;
- creates risk to the vehicle, persons, or property.
In such case, the Client remains liable for all resulting loss, damage, costs, and legal consequences.
21. Priority of Contract Documents
In case of any difference between:
- these Terms & Conditions;
- the Booking Confirmation;
- the Rental Agreement;
- a written custom quotation or written approval issued by Auto Rent Teqja,
the more specific written document for the relevant booking shall prevail for that booking, except where prohibited by mandatory law.
22. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms & Conditions, the Booking Confirmation, and the Rental Agreement are governed by the laws of the Republic of Albania.
Any dispute shall first be addressed amicably.
If no amicable solution is reached, the competent courts of Albania shall have jurisdiction.
23. Final Declaration
By completing the booking and/or signing the Rental Agreement, the Client confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions, together with any applicable pricing conditions, package details, deposit conditions, territorial restrictions, and protection exclusions communicated by Auto Rent Teqja.
